I Feel Defeated...or Do I??

Thanksgiving break rocked my world!!
I desperately needed it.
It was great seeing my family and friends. I was craving a late night talk with my besties. :)
BUT
coming back to Logan was hard.
Here's a couple of my worries:
--I REALLY want the job at Noodles & Company. Or just any job.
--If I don't pass my final in math, I'll fail the class and have to take it over again.
--I'm Homesick. With a capital H.
--College is a lot harder than I anticipated.
--I'm trying to stay optimistic, but it's SOO HARD!! Especially when the people around me are somewhat pessimistic.
--I try so hard to be an ethical person, but if everyone's idea of being ethical is different. Then how am I supposed to know what's ethical??
--Maybe I should just stop worrying about what everyone thinks of me. Ha! That would probably solve ALL my problems. :)
HOWEVER,
don't get too discouraged about my worrisome life, (like you were that discouraged anyway) because I found this awesome quote:
You bet I'm not going to be defeated! The Lord is watching over me. In Institute today, we learned about facing adversity and it was exactly what I needed to hear.
SOO
I'm going to work hard and buck up because sometimes life throws you a curveball and you just have to learn from the worst to become the best.

It's A Privilege

priv·i·lege

noun, verb
1.
a right, immunity, or benefit enjoyed only by a person beyond the advantages of most.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about people. Not anybody in particular. Just people. I've been thinking about how so many people have changed my life for the better. I compare and contrast the kinds of people I know from Sugar City and the kinds of people I know from Logan. Both groups are phenomenal. I consider it SUCH a privilege to know them.

Have you ever thought of knowing somebody as a privilege?
I definitely hadn't until just today.

I was at a missionary farewell and I was thinking about what an amazing testimony this young man had. Even though I don't know him very well (I've only ever spoken to him maybe a total of seven times), I was thinking about how I could say I know him and what an amazing blessing it is to know somebody who has such a strong testimony of the gospel.
I went with my friend, Carlee, and I was thinking about her as well. How she's profoundly affected the kind of person I am. She means more to me than she will ever realize. What a privilege it is to know her. I'm sure there's so many people out there who would kill to know a person like her.
I was also thinking about relationships. Even though I'm not in a relationship with anybody at the present moment and there's certain people that I would DIE to have a relationship with, I have to think to myself: the privilege to know them is so much more important.

Okay...so maybe I was thinking about certain people, but hey, how could I not?? :) :)

My Girls

As most blog posts are about on Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks as well.
I'm thankful for SOO much:
My family
Utah State
Good ole Sugar City, Idaho
Heavenly Father
Jesus Christ
Free laundry
And the list goes on....:) But there are five girls that I sincerely want to thank...
Shelby Roberts

Shelby: Thanks for always being there. I know your life has been rough and not everything's turned out the way you thought it would, but I admire you so much for your strength and attitude. You are always such a positive, lovely person and your friendship has meant the world to me! I know that we will ALWAYS be friends. You've listened to me, laughed with me, been incredibly stupid with me, and above all else, you've loved me. Thank you!

Marina Zundel

Marina: YOU. ARE. AMAZING!!! You can always make me laugh. You say the darndest things and know exactly what to say to get me to laugh. I love you. I haven't always appreciated the things that you've done for me and I want to try and make up for it by saying how much you've taught me. You've taught me to love others despite their differences because that's how you love. You don't care about what others think and you just love them. That's such a powerful gift and I will always love you for it.

Sarah Luthy

Sarah: I miss you. How much fun we had writing cheesy love stories, playing fortune, and doing everything we possibly could with each other. You might not think so, but I love you with all my heart and soul. I don't think there's anybody in this world I could love more. You always laugh at my stupid jokes and you don't judge or criticize. My life has been heavily influenced by your sweet spirit. You've taught me that friendship is  the fruit of life. You've taught me how valuable friendship is and how losing it can break a heart. I LOVE YOU!! Thank you for all you've done for me.

Lindsay Palmer

Lindsay: Oh Lindsay, Lindsay. :) Ha! I just love you. You understand exactly how my clock ticks. Your wisdom has always been an asset to my life. You are extremely smart and know how life works. I know I can always trust you with anything: Boys, family struggles, friends, boys, my insecurities, my strengths, oh, and boys. :) We are so relateable and I know that I can come to you with any problem and you won't hesitate to help me in any way you can. That's love to the fullest. Thank you and I LOVE YOU!!!!

Carlee Spratling

Carlee: Carlee Barlee, I can't describe to you how much I value you. Sleeping out on the tramp, working at camp together, dancing in your kitchen while making food. Those things I will cherish forever. The memories we have had together will never cease to be an amazement to me. I will look back on the things that we've done together with joy because of their stupidity and loveliness. You have such a special ability to be able to make others happy. I love having you around because you bring me happiness. I LOVE YOU!!!! And I will always love you because you have been a trustworthy, honest, and kind friend.

All of you have influenced my life for good. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! I have no words to describe how much I care about you girls.
Its been real, its been fun, and its been the best real fun I've ever had! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just remember: You will always be MY GIRLS :)

I'm Weird Because...

Okay, you know how they told you NOT to plagiarize in high school?
Well...I'm going to plagiarize an idea. I hope that's PC.
Lisa from Tales of A Young Housewife did an ADORABLE blog post about "I'm weird because..."
AND I really liked it, so I'm going to copy her idea.

I'm weird because...
I obsess over boys. Every time I see a boy, I immediately think:
"Is he cute?"

I love playing the piano, but I don't like to practice.

I buy WAY too many clothes.

I get on Facebook AT LEAST 3 times a day.

I would much rather write a paper than take a test.

I LOVE brand new notebooks. I hate using
an already used notebook. Bleck.

My favorite genre of music is pop. I'm just that un-awesome. :)

My music has two volumes: LOUD and LOUDER.

I dance at random moments and I'm not very good at it.

I thought I was a clean freak, then I got into college....

Most girls have their baby names picked out before they're 12,
me on the other hand,
I have NO idea what I'm going to name my child. I'm going
to be one of those mothers who calls their kid 'Baby' for two weeks.

I can stay up as late as I want, but I CANNOT
for the life of me wake up in the morning.

I've never been kissed.

I've never cuddled or held hands with a boy.

I believe cereal is a food group.

I think glasses on guys is hott.

I LOVE doing laundry.
Having clean clothes is the best feeling in the world.

Alrighty! You're turn!! Why are YOU weird?? :)

Ala Shakespeare?

"To be or not to be..."-Hamlet
"Double, double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble."-Macbeth
"Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo?"-Romeo & Juliet

I've had a recent obsession with Shakespeare. It's so bad that I'm taking a class on it next semester.
I know.
I'm crazy.
BUT Shakespeare just speaks to me. Kind of like Chuck Norris's name speaks to him.
Same concept.
SOOO
I've decided to propose a question: What kinds of things speak to you?
I believe with all my heart and soul that passion is what drives us to make the very best of ourselves. Shakespeare does that for me. He gives me perspective. He gives me this inner yearning to really analyze and study what he's actually trying to say.
Nevertheless, I really want to know: What drives you?

poetry time. nap time. blankie time.

I was feeling SOO wasted this morning. Staying up till 4 a.m. to register for classes is NEVER a good idea. So, I did the only sensible thing a college student could do:
I took a nap.
It was heavenly with a cherry on top.
Not only did I take a nap, but I napped with my balloon blankie.
Yes, even as an 18-year old college student I still have a baby blanket.

Then after my happy cuddling time with Mr. Blankie, I read some poetry for my Lit. class. FYI: I HATE poetry. So, I wasn't all that stoked when my professor announced that we were going to start our poetry section. BUT I'm going to admit that I was WRONG and say I now am extremely fond of it. :)

THIS happens to be my favorite poem at the moment. (My favoritism of things change frequently). That's not the whole thing, it's like a whole page long. :) The poem explains that the all the necessities of life are based on air/oxygen. (Hence the title).
Overall, my poetry/nap/blankie time has been extremely satisfying.

Dear Boys...I Love You :)

Dear love of my life,
You can ask me out now. That would be highly acceptable.
Love,
your dearest wifey

Dear cute lit. class guy,
Too bad you swear and drink,
I'd probably be into you.
Love,
walking fashion crime

Dear banana,
I'll help you with your math any day.
love,
Secret

Dear Premie,
I secretly want to hold your hand.
Love,
Definite freshman

Dear Missionary,
Even after 7 months, you're still awkward.
And that's bad.
Love,
your friend

Dear Mysterious,
Someday I'll get up the courage to talk to you.
But if you could not look at me with your dreamy eyes,
then maybe I could focus.
Love,
Butterflies

Walking Fashion Crime?? I THINK NOT!!

I. LOVE. FASHION.
But sometimes...I like to be a walking fashion crime.
(Shirt: Deb, Scarf: Walmart)
That's right. I mixed my animal prints. Boom. Roasted.
So...... am I  a Walking Fashion Crime? Maybe...but I like being a rebel. :)

Family

As a bratty sixteen year old, I often thought about how amazing college would be without my parents nagging me hand and foot. Now as a college student, I wish they were nagging me. Especially because today I've been super sick. Sore throat, stuffy nose, achy body, the works.
As I was laying on my couch watching The Nanny and trying not to die, all I could think about was how much I wanted my mommy. (No, not my mom, my mommy). I called her up and told her I was sick. She told me to go to Walgreens and get some medicine. I'm glad I was sick because the whole time I was talking to her, I was bawling my eyes out. I just wanted my mommy. And as much as I love my roommates, they were no substitute for her.
I've taken my family for granted. I really have. I always thought my siblings were born to pester and annoy me. Which is totally NOT the case. I love calling home and talking to Julianne. She's 12 and in that cute pre-teen stage where she likes to talk about boys, fashion, and hair. It's super fun to see her where I used to be.
I also love talking to my little brother, Kendall. Growing up in a family of all girls is never easy, but it makes it easy for me to talk to him about anything because well...he understands girls. :) ha!
Rachael has been a god-send as well. She is so logical and understanding. She tells it like it is and has some of the best advice.
So, I guess the point of this blog is just to say: I love my family!! :)

I Have An Addiction...

TO SHOPPING!!!!
Just walking into Maurices or Vanity makes me giddy.

The only reason I people watch is because I LOVE looking at people's outfits and wondering how they could have come up with something so sensational.
So...I went to Vanity and bought this adorable cream cardigan to satisfy my habit.

Cute right?
I LOVE the pockets.
Cardigans just rock my world. <3 <3

3 Kinds of Love

Face it.

We're all obsessed with love....Okay....I'M obsessed with love. :)
BUT
Did you know that love is more important than food? People don't commit suicide because of lack of food. It's because they feel like nobody loves them. Everybody wants to feel loved.

Recently, I read a small book about love. It's called 3 Kinds of Love.

In this book, the author mentioned that there are 3 kinds of love that everyone and anyone can produce. Those three kinds of love are: "If" love, "Because" love, and "In Spite Of" love.

"If" Love is the most basic kind of love. Examples: IF you are skinny, then I will love you. IF you are funny, then I will love you. This isn't the kind of love that's desirable, but people fall for it because they're desperate for any kind of love.

"Because" Love is the love that people give other people BECAUSE of something they are. Examples: I love you BECAUSE you are popular. I love you BECAUSE you are attractive. This kind of love is better than "If" love. It's great to have somebody love us BECAUSE of what we are, but that can turn to jealously. If somebody else has a better quality or does something better than us, then that love can diminish.

"In Spite Of" love is the best love of all. This kind of love is the most desirable, but not easily given. People love you IN SPITE OF a certain weakness you have. They love you IN SPITE OF something you do that annoys them. This kind of love is the truest and purest of all because somebody loves every part of you.

I want to love somebody in that "In Spite Of" love kind of way. Don't you? :)

No Blog Title Does This Story Justice :)

Well hello my fine feathered friends!!
How are you doing?
I hope fabulous, because I definitely feel fabulous today!
Today has totally been one of those unexpected amazing days.
First, I went to Institute and I started talking to this girl in my class. We'd kind of met before but we weren't really the BEST of friends, if you know what I mean. I really like her a lot, however, she's super friendly and fantastically adorable. Anyway, she kind of "unloaded" to me in a way. Not really because it wasn't any huge burden, but she kind of started telling me about her love life. :) Which I love hearing about! :) Ha! AND AND AND she's going on a MISSION!! She sends her papers out in December. :) So, that totally made my day! I just felt like I was there when she just needed to tell somebody about how she was feeling. I felt like I was doing service. Which always happens to me in the most unexpected of ways.
Second, there's this kid in my math class, whom I think is awesome. :) He kind of sits behind me, so I don't usually interact with him. However, on Monday, I saw him at the D.I. and I said "hi" to him. Then, today I told him: "Hey! I saw you at D.I. on Monday!" and then we started talking. It was the greatest conversation I'd ever had with a person in my life. He told me that he'd done drugs since he was 14, however, he's been sober for 18 months and is going back to church. We talked about judgement, life, and family.
Again, I felt like I was there for somebody when they needed it most. Even though I've never talked to either of these people in my life, Heavenly Father knew I needed it.

Overall, it was a SENSATIONAL day. :) Don'tcha just love days like that? I do. :)

One Crazy Bus Driver...

*insert creepy zombie voice*
"Veeeettttt Ssssccciiieeennncceee Bbbuiillllding..."
The intercom resonated with the drip of death.
This is what I heard on the bus yesterday.
HILARIOUS!!!
I couldn't stop laughing.
The bus driver dressed up as a zombie for Halloween and played the part to the extreme.
It. Was. Awesome.
She's such an sensational bus driver! Every day, she always has something funny to say.
I'll admit, she's insane.
People might even classify her as a social mistake, but she always makes my day. :)
