Things I Learn From Elise & Nichelle

Sometimes...Elise, Nichelle, & I hang out.
And sometimes when we hang out, Nichelle & Elise give me dating advice.
Because they are bitter old maids (hehe), they have given me some great tips.

--Don't pray for patience. Because obviously, it's worked for them.
Also, don't pray for humility or longsuffering. Those are just synonyms of patience.

--What I should pray for: charity, faith, and hope.

--Don't date idiots.

--Kiss a couple guys before you get married. It's good for you.

--Try to be exactly like Nichelle & Elise. Because they're cool.

--According to Nichelle, I'm a "cool" 19-year old.

--When I write a missionary, make sure to send him a snuggie sprayed with my perfume, fruit snacks, and plenty of letters.

--Because I'm not an old maid, I can date all the returned missionaries! :)

Also, I might just love Nichelle & Elise a lot. They rock my world. And they totally aren't old maids. They're adorable & I love them. :) They give the greatest advice. :)

7 Questions & My Favorite Princess!! :)

1. If you could be any princess- which would you be and why?
--Odette from The Swan Princess.
Two reasons: Her name is Odette & her man is SOO handsome!

2. Do you have any odd habits? (do things in order, words that you say too often, etc)
I don't really like wearing socks. I can't sleep if I wear them & sometimes I start to feel claustrophic if I leave them on too long. Weird, I know.
Also, my shower routine is very specific: shampoo, body wash, face wash, conditioner. Yup :)

3. What's your "go to" outfit?
Shorts & this plaid slash cream tank top that I got at JCPenney.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are their genders, ages, order of age, names, etc?
Yes! There are 5 of us including me: 3 sisters & 1 brother. Rachael is 21, I'm 19, Kendall is 15 {only boy & he's right in the middle!}, Julianne is 13, and Bridget is 10.

5. What's your favorite precious stone?
I've always been very partial to diamonds. Just because they're sparkly & I figure I'll have one someday. :)

6. If you had a check in your hand for 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?
Go shopping. Definitely.

7. What do you love most about yourself- physically (eyes, smile, hair, etc. I don't know a good way to word that question...)
I really like my hair.
It's easy to style, easy to maintain, it's pin straight, and it grows fast.

Dear Boys: FB Stalkage & Beards

Dear Valley,
I have nothing more to say to you
that I haven't already stated.
Ugh,
Elisabeth
P.S. Mostly, I'm just in love with you WAY more than you realize.

Dear Pinstripe,
I totally FB stalked you today.
Oops,
Elisabeth

Dear Beards on Boys,
You are increasingly becoming
somewhat more attractive.
It really depends on the boy,
but I feel more genteel towards you.
Love,
Elisabeth

Dear Premie,
Apparently, Elise has dear boyed about you too.
We must have great taste in men.
Cordially,
Elisabeth

                     Dear braceface, AKA City Boy
Elise is totally worth it.
You don't know what you're missing.
Sincerely,
Elisabeth

Today Has Been A Sensational Day

Getting up this morning, I hadn't planned on life being so awesome.
I rolled out of bed, showered, put my wet hair in a sock bun, and went to work.
Then at work, something changed.
I started talking to my co-workers & everything got significantly better.
One of my co-workers is getting married and we talked about her story and how he proposed and all that jazz. It was wonderful. We joked around about the weird names people give their kids.
(Like...Crystal Ball. Who would name their kid that?)
(Also, nature names? River...Forrest...yeah. that's weird.)
After work, I got in my car and the radio was blasting Backstreet Boys. Besides, One Direction, they are my all-time favorite boy band.
Then Kelly Clarkson's What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger came on.
Jeez. The mountainous amounts of advice and encouragement I got in just driving home from work was incredible.
Now, I sit here on my comfy bed, blogging, and thinking about getting a jamba and reading Pride & Prejudice.
Dang. Today has seriously been a sensational day.

My Viewpoint On Men Part 2

Yesterday, I went to a missionary farewell and it was amazing!
As I was sitting in the congregation, I started thinking about men.
(Naturally, because what else do I think about?)
Mostly, I just started thinking about the young man who's farewell it was.
He's such a sensational person and is always so kind to me.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.
There haven't been many boys in my life who have gone out of their way to be nice to me.
I come from a very small town and because of that, the boys that I interacted with didn't feel like it was necessary to show me a little kindness.
Not that the boys were mean or anything, but they definitely weren't friendly by any means.
Kindness goes such a long way.
It's the key to being friends with anyone. Boy or girl.
I'm so glad for people like this missionary who are such great examples of how to act and how to be.
They help me be able to open up a little bit and trust people, which is really hard for me to do.
I'm so thankful that there are men who stand up for what's right.
They know the duty they have as a son of God and they live up to that potential.
Thanks, guys.
You rock.

Psych Withdrawals

I just finished the last episode of Season 5.
I know there's a season 6, but it's not on Netflix.
So, I have no way to obtain that last season.
I'm already withdrawing from not being able to listen to Gus sympathetically cry.
Or watching Shawn play fake psychic.
Or seeing the secret love Juliet harbors for Shawn.

Or watch Lassie hate Shawn in person, but deep down love Shawn's guts.
Or trying to find the pineapple in every episode.
Oh.
I'm so withdrawn.
Is anybody else obsessed with Psych?
Because if you are, then we can be great friends.

Dear Boys: Pinterest Style #2

It's a day late! Sorry, guys! :)

Dear Missionary,

Lovingly,
Elisabeth

Dear Disney,
Cordially,
Elisabeth

Dear Valley,

Love,
Elisabeth

Dear Recess,
Awe man.
I'm a little saddened.
Disappointingly,
Elisabeth

Dear Slapstick,

Yup,
Elisabeth

Have I Ever Told You How Much I Love My Best Friend?

If Sadie was a boy, we'd be married by now.
Seriously.
We're BEST friends.

We're like Shawn & Gus.
Fox & the Hound.
Woody & Buzz.
Merry & Pippin.
(Yes, I did just make a Lord of the Rings reference)
I don't know what it is and I don't know how it happened.
We get each other.
We're the kind of friends that hang out together in complete, comfortable, companionable silence and it works.
Me & Sadie weren't always best friends.
Believe me. We weren't.
She hung out in a different crowd and I didn't really hang with that crowd.
Then my senior year of high school, we ended up having a lot of classes together & we've clicked ever since.
We've been through a lot. Mostly, we've just lived in different places during the last year.
But that hasn't stopped us!!
I love Miss Sadie Pearl with all my heart.
Here's to you, beautiful girl!
Love & miss you! <3

7 Questions & A Psych Reference

(Photo added because if you watch Psych, you'll understand.
Have I mentioned that I'm obsessed with this show??)

Linking up with Gentri Lee today!!

1. What do you do when you're sick? (Do you act like a baby? Tough it out? Have any weird cravings? Cry?)
Mostly, I just pretend I'm not sick. I HATE being sick, so I try to tough it out, but that usually results in me whining and complaining until tears must push their way through my tear ducts. Also, my coping mechanism is to watch The Nanny. One of my favorite 90's sitcoms.

2. What do you do to find motivation when you feel you've lost it?
Usually, I listen to Mormon Messages on YouTube. It helps me feel a little bit better about myself. :)

3. Do you wish time away or do you savor every moment?
Earlier in life, I used to savor every moment. Now, I feel like I'm in the wish time away stage. I need to start savoring!

4. If you could be any mythological creature, what would you be, and why?
A unicorn. Definitely.

5. What is your current biggest weakness and are you working on fixing it?
My height & weight. Sometimes, I just feel like a big panda. Cute & cuddly, but oh so fat. (ha!) But I'm getting better at accepting who I am and not letting it get the best of me! I go running a lot, which helps!
6. How do you greet someone when meeting them for the first time?
Just a friendly "Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Elisabeth."

7. How do you grocery shop? (Do you write up a list? Go in with no idea what you're looking for? Have meal plans? Bring your own shopping bags?)
I always use a list. Otherwise, I end up buying more slash less than I should. Also, I'm very forgetful, so I actually make a list of everything I do. To-do lists, to-buy lists, to-date lists. Ya know. The usual. :)

My Viewpoint on Men

First off,
I want you to read this post.
Mostly because it's awesome & mostly because I love Nicole.
Second,
My favorite quote from that same post:
(Because I know you didn't actually read it.)

"I’ll admit that we women are bit of a struggle at times, but at the very core of who we are there is a great deal of love, respect, appreciation and awe at how amazing and impressive you can be."--Nicole Shepard.

I wholeheartedly agree with her. Men are pretty darn impressive, even when they don't try to be. There are so many righteous examples of boys in my life who know who they are and what their potential is. Not only does it help me be a better person, but it helps every single girl around them.
Boys have such an extreme influence on girls and how they act.
I admit, I do certain things so that a boy will like me. Every girl does.
So, that's why you boys have to be such stalwart examples.
I know it's a lot of pressure, but it's the truth.
To the boys out there who are doing their very best, thanks.
You deserve every cookie that I can bake.

Me, My Big Mouth, & I

My mouth & I have been at war with each other for a while now.
My brain tells my mouth:
"Hey mouth, you shouldn't say that. You might offend someone."
But no, my mouth is all like:
"Hey brain, I think I'm going say it anyway. Who's it really gonna hurt?"
Boy. My mouth needs to take lessons from up top.
Or maybe I just need to learn to stop gossiping.
That could be it.
At Quiznos today, my manager pulled me aside.
(When this happened, I almost had a mini panic attack because last time, I almost got fired)
She said that she had heard from someone that I had said that I thought she didn't like me.
(Got all that?)
Which was actually true. I just felt really bad because she had heard it from someone else.
And I had felt the need to exclaim my frustration to my coworkers.
I really should have known that it would have gotten back to her.
Ugh.
That's why my mouth & I are still at war.

Perspective: A Fashion Crime Story

I love running.

(Look at me in action!)
(Credit goes to Julissa for taking this awesome picture.)

I'm not fast or can run for exorbitant amounts of time, but I still love it.
However, as I was running today, I started thinking about why I run.
FLASHBACK!!
I ran cross-country for a year during high school and I sucked.
Really bad.
But I wanted to start running.
I didn't start running because my parents made me or because I thought boys would like me more if I started. I ran because I wanted to be better slash feel better about myself.

The race has already started. Sweat is pouring down my face and the sun is beating at the back of my legs. I stretch my long legs as hard and as far as they will go and I pass the finish line. I look back expecting to see no one behind me, but in fact, there are a least six girls still running their guts out. I almost had a heart attack. That never happens. I'm always last, but this race was different and I knew it.
That was the moment I knew why I ran.
I ran because there's nothing like looking back on three miles and thinking "DANG! I ran that!"
It fills me with an inexplicable sense of pride.
That's why I ran.
Then I realized something else. I might have ran for that reason back in high school, but am I running for that same reason now?
The answer would be: No.
I need to jump back on the band wagon and run because I want to.
That's a way better reason anyway. :)

Dear Boys: If I Scared You Off, I'm Sorry

Dear Recess,
I think I scared you off,
but I didn't mean to!
I just wanted to get to know you better.
That's all.
Sighingly,
Elisabeth

Dear Banana,
I kind of miss how cool you are.
Let's hang out soon.
Okay?
Love,
Elisabeth

Dear Manly Man,
I really feel like a dork for liking you so much.
Don't think about the fact that I chased after you
and just ask me out.
Thanks,
Elisabeth

Dear E=mc2,
You're still cute.
But I think I'm over you.
Wooo,
Elisabeth

Dear 4-3,
I'm SOO glad we're just friends.
Cordially,
Elisabeth

Dr. Snooze,
Okay.
You like another girl.
That's alright.
I have bigger fish to fry right now.
Love,
Elisabeth

Look At This Place!! dream [65] designs

Guys,
I'm so stoked.
I mean, look at this place!!
It's SOO cute, right?!
I'm in love with the new look.
It's all thanks to this beautiful girl:

Miss Shaylee from Mother At Heart
She's SOO cool.

Go check her out!
Her design site is dream [65] designs.
She is such a great person and I LOVED working with her!
She's super prompt, helpful, friendly, and adorable.
What more could you want?!
Also, she's super tech savvy, which in my book is exactly what I needed when doing a blog design.
Mostly, I just really like her.
Slash I totally might have met her today in PERSON!
Yeah.
Be jealous.

P.S. Any of you lovely ladies who have my old button, if you could just swap it out with one of my new ones, that would be AWESOME!!! :) Thanks!

Part 12: Walking Fashion Crime?? I THINK NOT!!!

(Shirt: Maurices, Skirt: JCPenney, Scarf: Maurices. Earrings: Maurices)
Pencil skirt & jean shirt. Oh yeah. Totally pulling it off without even trying. This outfit was the outfit I was wearing when a very attractive boy thought I was cute. Coincidence? I think not. That's just me bending the rules of fashion (and romance) a little bit.

Eating Skittles

I would like to preface this post by saying that I'm super embarrassed right now.
Mostly because I gave a talk in church today & all I did was ramble about adversity.
Which (of course) means that I spilled my guts all over the pulpit.
Gross & embarrassing. I know.
I was trying to impress a cute boy while also trying to appear normal.
That's never a good combination.
So, to relieve myself from my self-inflicted horror, I am eating skittles.
Their expiration date was probably the year 1997 and they taste a lot a little stale, but oh well.
I am eating the skittles anyway.

Things I Learned From Changing A Flat Tire

Oh the things I learn from getting a flat tire.
I'm glad I witnessed so many flat tires during my childhood.
I think those moments prepared me for my ultimate challenge.

Here's what I learned:
--Lugnuts are so stinkin' hard to get off. Even using my amazing upper body strength, I couldn't get them off. Then I got smart. Where do women harbor most of their strength? In their legs. Luckily, I have a lot of leg, so those puppies didn't stand a chance.

--I know the terms for all the tools now. Donut, lugnut, jack, hubcap...etc. I feel extremely educated.

--I pinched my finger in the process of putting the donut on. Owie! But I've got a battle wound! I've always wanted a battle wound.

--And most importantly, I now know that I can change a tire all by myself. Holla!!

Dear Boys: Celebrity Crushes & Home Bodies

Dr. Snooze,
I think our chemistry has dwindled.
But maybe we could create an experiment together
and see if it comes back.
Love,
Elisabeth

Dear Shawn Spencer,
I've never had a celebrity crush,
but I'm glad you're my first.
Glowingly,
Elisabeth

Dear You,
I thought about you today.
Are you still a VL?
Curiously,
Elisabeth

Dear Valley,
I'm coming home this week.
Maybe we'll run into each other?
I hope so.
Wishingly,
Elisabeth

Dear Disney,
Social media has come a long way to helping us be friends.
Also, you're kind of my favorite.
Love,
Elisabeth

Can We Just Talk About Shawn Spencer?

I met some fabulous girls this week and yesterday we talked.
About what, you ask?

SHAWN SPENCER, BABY!!!
I seriously have a huge crush on this man.
One night, I had a dream that I was on The Ellen Show & Ellen knew how much I loved James Roday Shawn Spencer, so she invited him to the show & I rode on motorcycle with him.
Holy hannah.
Best. Dream. Ever.

Shaving Cream & Disneyland

How does shaving cream and Disneyland relate?
This is how:
 (instagram: follow me @fashioncrime)
Me, Christina, and Elise like to make maps of Disneyland out of shaving cream slash we just like to five year olds.

Shout-out to Chelsea from Perfect In My Mind because she loves Disneyland. :)

Gumball, Anyone?

Yesterday, I went down to Layton to visit one of my dearest friends.
Her name is Tangerine.
Just kidding. Her real name is Justine. Her camp name was Tangerine.
I missed her lots and it was so good to see her!
We ate at the Brick Oven (has anyone ever been there?), we went shopping & ate gourmet gumballs!

Also, we might have found a giant barrette at Macy's.
Totally would have bought it if it had been useful.
